Brian Melvin’s Modern Times
Brian Melvin’s Modern Times came together in 2013 In Tallinn, Estonia. The musicians all knew each other for many years and have played together in individual projects but never as a group. Brian first came to Estonia in 1993 to play at the world famous Jazzkaar festival. Some years went by and then Brian relocated to Tallinn in 2003 and has been involved in Estonia’s jazz music as a player and educator. Brian has been involved with the highest level of projects in Estonia as well as his projects from America. This is Brian’s first project to be recorded under his name in Estonia. As Brian says – ’’Modern Times just plays jazz the way I enjoy and hear the music. The players are very sensitive an kind.’’ The band features Virgo Sillamaa on guitar, Raul Sööt on saxophone and Peedu Kass on bass. Brian has had recorings in the top 10 of international jazz charts an has played and recorded with hall of fame and Grammy award winning artists such as Jaco Pastorius, John Scofield, Michael Brecker, Joe Henderson. David Kikoski, Joe Lovano, Mike Stern and many more. He also played and recorded with Rock’n’roll Hall of fame musicians such as Bob Weir of the Grateful Dead and Gregg Allman of the great Allman Brothers Band.
